This Satirical Thriller

Director Coralie Fargeat's bold satire tackles the demanding standards for female beauty as well as the feared consequences of ageing. Demi Moore presents a brilliant performance as Elisabeth, a 50-year-old actress forced into hosting an aerobics show on TV. This creates a younger clone portrayed by Margaret Qualley, leading to an increasingly parasitic dynamic between them. October 17th, the streaming service Paramount+

But after an unknown lady goes overboard during the evening and the entire crew claims she was never there, Laura's investigative instincts awaken. Out now, on Netflix

This Supernatural Story

Soderbergh challenges his directorial skills through this nifty paranormal narrative filmed completely from the perspective of the phantom. When a household including mother Rebekah and troubled teenage daughter Chloe moves into their fresh home, the lens – AKA the Presence – shadows their actions. The teen shows signs of sensing the ghostly being, and it seems protective of her. However, the motive remains? The premise is enjoyable that remains concise, featuring a surprise that may be unexpected. Saturday 11 October, afternoon and evening times, Sky Cinema

Nicolas Cage's Meta Comedy

Contacted by government spies to investigate the alleged criminal, his unique performing skills is put to the test. October 11th, evening, Channel 4

This Creepy Thriller

The director's contained scarefest holds up well despite the lack of a sequel. Set in 1978 Denver, multiple child abductions has rendered the children anxious. When Finney is kidnapped by “the Grabber” and held captive in a dungeon, he anticipates the worst. Yet the non-functional line in the room continues to ring, with ghostly voices offering help, and the prophetic visions of Gwen, his sister may be his salvation. A genuinely scary movie. October 11th, nighttime, Film4

The Tammy Faye Biopic

In the conflict between spirituality and money, it's a knockout win for Mammon in Michael Showalter's wonderfully garish biopic of the disgraced televangelist and her criminal husband. The actor acts as the corrupt Bakker, who declares initially, asserting religious justification for riches. Both individuals commence profiting from the American public's religious faith. It's a spectacle of tacky decor, overdone appearance and hypocrisy, yet Chastain succeeds to show Tammy Faye as a sympathetic figure. Tuesday 14 October, early morning, on Film4

Black Bag

This period's additional entry from Steven Soderbergh is a spy mystery as sharp similar to the collars sported by Michael Fassbender's UK spy. His assignment is to discover a double agent among the team out of five possibilities – among them is his own wife. Both actors are masters of calm composure, resulting in an engaging mental battle of truth or lie unfolds. The supporting cast join in the clever spy entertainment.
