Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update.
Social Media Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.
It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
